Notice of Non-Affiliation and Non-Endorsement

Every portrait in Effigy began the same way: KLEW — Kimon Lewis — a sheet of paper, and a face the world already carries. What is offered here is his reading of that face. Each piece is an original artwork by KLEW, made by hand in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and sold as independent art — not merchandise, official or otherwise, and not memorabilia. What you purchase is an edition of KLEW’s work — a digital download, a diptych set, or a signed digital limited edition — one artist’s personal, interpretive reading of an iconic public figure.

Effigy is an independent series. It is not affiliated with, associated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with any person depicted in it, or with their families, estates, heirs, or rights-holders. No such person or entity has sponsored, approved, or participated in these works. Where a name appears in a listing, it appears only to identify whom a portrait depicts — the way a museum label names a sitter — never to indicate source or sponsorship. No connection is intended, and none should be inferred.

Each portrait speaks only for the artist. These works are not presented as the voice or viewpoint of any community, culture, or movement, and no such association is claimed. Some of those portrayed hold deep religious and cultural meaning for living communities; every portrait is offered with respect for that — as KLEW’s reading, and nothing more. None of these works claims or implies endorsement; recognition is not endorsement.

Your purchase is for personal use: display it, print it for your own home or personal space, keep it. Your license is personal and non-commercial — please don’t resell the files, redistribute them, or use the artwork commercially: on products, in advertising, or anywhere it could be presented as official or endorsed. Commissioned work is agreed under its own separate terms.

This notice exists so that no buyer mistakes homage for endorsement. Nothing in this series claims anyone’s blessing, and nothing in it should be read that way.
